Bahr El Baqar Water Treatment Plant
The project is located in Sinai, 10 km south of the Port Said tunnels over roughly 155 Acres. It is regarded as one of the most significant initiatives to develop the Sinai Peninsula and make the most of its natural riches. By recycling and utilising wastewater from industry, agriculture, and sewage that is diverted from the western to the eastern bank under the Suez Canal, the initiative will aid in the reclamation of 400,000 Acres. All water will be distributed in Sheikh Jaber’s Canal after purification. Three drains, the greatest of which is the 106 km Bahr El Baqar Drain that empties into Manzala Lake, collect sewage and wastewater from commercial and industrial sources. Due to its detrimental effects on fisheries and human health, this water is therefore regarded as a source of pollution. 5.6 million m3 of irrigation water are thought to be the plant’s daily capacity at Bahr El-Baqar Wastewater Treatment. It has 2 sludge treatment units, 4 identical units for the physical and chemical tertiary treatment phases. The project consists of the following phases:
- Phase 1- Pre-Treatment Phase
- Phase 2- Water Treatment Phase
- Phase 3- Post Treatment Phase
